We eat this?!

I just finished teaching Timothy's preschool about plants and gardens and things that grow. One of the experiments I came across was to put popcorn kernels in a plastic bag with some dirt and a little water and then tape them to a sunny window. The idea was to be able to watch the root system develop. I don't know if we left them up there too long or what, but this is what we ended up with after 2 weeks. Now remember, these are just regular popcorn kernels, straight from the Orville Redenbacher bag...I don't know what the kids expected, but I was amazed!

Not to worry Kat... you did the experiment correclty!! That's what is suppose to grow after only 2 weeks! I was amazed the first time I saw this activity done (in Brandi's first grade classroom in '02). WARNING...transplant them soon or they will begin to pop open the bags!!)

My love to all... Becky
